Volunteer Registration for the 2010 LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans is now open!! We are currently accepting volunteers for our Mall Sales during the Holiday Season and for all Uniformed Committees for Tournament Week. Please click on Volunteers at the top of this page, and you will see the links to our new online registration tool.
Registration for the Non-Uniformed Committees will be open in the middle of December. LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans The 2010 LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans is the second major of the season and will be played at the renowned Locust Hill Country Club June 21-27, 2010. Locust Hill has hosted an LPGA event since 1977. The LPGA Championship was first played in 1955, just a few years after the LPGA itself was founded. It is the championship of the Ladies Professional Golf Association, and is one of the LPGA Tour's four major championships. In 2009, rookie Anna Nordqvist of Sweden won her first title as a professional at this major, closing with a 68 for a four-stroke victory over runner-up Lindsey Wright. Nordqvist had played in only four LPGA tournaments prior to winning the 2009 LPGA Championship. LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans Player FieldThe LPGA Championship presented by Wegmans Field will be made up of the following: (These are the criteria from the 2009 McDonalds LPGA Championship and will be updated soon)
1. The field will consist of a maximum of 150 players determined as follows:
a. LPGA Tour Hall of Fame members
b. Past champions of the McDonald’s LPGA Championship
c. Winners of all LPGA co-sanctioned or approved events, at which the prize money is considered official for the purpose of the LPGA Official Money List, between 2004-2008
d. Winners of all 2009 LPGA co-sanctioned or approved events, at which the prize money is considered official for the purpose of the LPGA Official Money List, as June 8, 2009.
e. 2008 LPGA T&CP Professional Section Champions and National Champion
f. Top-3 players on the Rolex Women’s World Rankings provided such players are within the Top20 in the World Rankings as of May 19, 2009, not otherwise qualified through 1.a-e.
g. The current US Women’s Amateur Champion provided she is still an amateur at the beginning of McDonald’s LPGA Championship tournament competition
h. Any player finishing in, or tied for, the 10th position in the 2008 McDonald’s LPGA Championship
i. Members who have committed to the event with the first priority going to players on the LPGA Official Money List through May 24, 2009 (2009 LPGA Corning Classic)
2. If the field is not filled by players qualifying under Sections 1.a-i, the remaining spot(s) will be filled by players from the 2009 LPGA Priority List who have committed to the event.
Wegmans LPGA signs long-term deal with the LPGA Locust Hill Country Club, Pittsford, New York —August 26, 2009 – The Wegmans LPGA announced today that they have reached a long-term agreement with the LPGA. The Wegmans LPGA Tournament will be hosted at Locust Hill Country Club on the following dates:
June 21 – 27, 2010
June 20 – 26, 2011
June 18 – 24, 2012
Wegmans LPGA officials announced that Colleen Wegman, President of Wegmans Food Markets, agreed to continue as title sponsor of the Wegmans LPGA event in Rochester, New York, for the next three years with the option for additional one-year extensions. “We are very pleased to have reached an agreement with the LPGA and look forward to bringing the women of the LPGA to the Rochester community through 2012 and beyond. As title sponsor, we have committed to maintaining a $2 million purse for 2010. The formula for success depends on the support of our corporate sponsors and we hope we can depend on their partnership and participation as we move forward together,” stated Colleen Wegman.
“We are grateful for Wegmans’ continued commitment to our community and support of the Wegmans LPGA as title sponsor. This ensures that the best women golfers will compete in Rochester for the next several years,” said Jerry Stahl, Tournament Co-Chairman. “We will need the community to continue their support of this event through increased sponsorship, volunteers and fan participation. We are committed to maintaining the high standards of the past Wegmans LPGA tournaments.”

Bill Strassburg, Chairman of the Children’s Success Fund Special Events LLC, also announced that 100% of the tournament’s annual net proceeds will benefit the Graduation is the Goal Fund, which aids evidence-based programs that show significant promise in delivering on their graduation is the goal mission. The Graduation is the Goal Fund will support Hillside Work Scholarship Connection and other United Way programs that serve the growing number of children in our community at risk of dropping out of school. The 2009 tournament proceeds totaled $250,000 to the Graduation is the Goal Fund. |
